How it started
After leaving the Navy I found myself at a crossroads wondering what to do next. That’s when the family decided to revitalize the family business—residential upholstery—after it had been purchased by an office supply company.
We moved the business into a commercial building next to a marina. Initially we did not focus on canvas work or boat seats. That quickly changed as I discovered the fun and challenge of fabricating marine canvas/upholstery for boats, RVs and furniture projects.
Over time I found a unique niche in the market: camping accessories for classic VW campers. This lead to camping accessories for transits, sprinters, promasters as well as other vehicles.
See a Need Fill a Need
After learning the trade and growing the business I started looking for a more efficient way to make the end product faster and better. So 2.5 years ago I searched for a battery powered snap tool for my own use. No one made such a product. So I thought "if no one makes it, why not you". I couldn't be the only one who be interested in such a tool if it was available.
The birth of the Snap Tool
I came up with many design ideas until finally coming up with what is now the Next Snap Tool. I found the perfect person to prototype build it and spent over a year testing and making modifications. It was a long road with ups and downs, but I wanted this tool for myself, so I kept pursuing it until I had the end product I wanted. I could have stopped there but I knew other fabricators could benefit too. So I moved onto looking for someone to manufacture the pieces I needed to make this a reality. Now I am happy to say we have a product available for others.
